Panic Attack

Panic attacks, sometimes referred to as anxiety attacks, are characterised by sudden, unexpected bouts of acute and debilitating anxiety, which are often accompanied by distressing physical symptoms. These physical symptoms can be so severe, that it is not uncommon for first time sufferers to believe that they are experiencing a heart attack or a nervous breakdown. Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is a chronic mental health condition that affects thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. The condition is characterized by symptoms such as delusions and hallucinations. Anyone can develop schizophrenia. The causes of schizophrenia remains poorly understood. Genetic or hereditary factors seem to be important in some people, but in others it can arise after stressful life experiences. Very often there is no clear cause for the onset of symptoms. PTSd

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD can happen to anyone exposed to a traumatic situation, even children. The causes for PTSD could be anything that puts the person in an unbearably stressful situation, especially one that causes or could have caused serious physical harm. The symptoms of PTSD can be very telling. Patients have flashbacks of the event, they tend to visualize the whole situation over and over again, and spend hours analyzing the way things should have been, or could have been. Severe emotional responses to normal, otherwise nonstressful situations can occur, with physical symptoms like palpitations, accelerated heart beat, sweating, tremors and panic attacks, accompanied by severe social anxiety. adhd

ADHD is a biological disorder. It has one of highest genetic powers of transmission when compared to other psychiatric illnesses (i.e. schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. A key symptom of ADHD is attention problems, not hyperactivity; some patients are not hyperactive. Phobias

It usually results in a rapid onset of fear. The affected person will go to great lengths to avoid the situation or object, typically to a degree greater than the actual danger posed. While a phobia may appear irrational or unusual to those that don’t have one, they are a type of anxiety disorder. Insomnia

Trauma

Trauma is an emotional reaction to a very distressing event. Such events could include an accident, a violent attack, bullying, abuse, witnessing a distressing event like death, or living through a natural disaster. Trauma is often the result of an overwhelming amount of stress that exceeds one’s ability to cope or to integrate the emotions involved with the experience.  The symptoms can come on immediately after the event or come on much later usually triggered by a life event. The immediate reaction is usually shock and denial and a feeling of numbness, this is generally followed by physical symptoms such as headaches and emotional reactions such as worry, upset and not being able to sleep. These symptoms gradually disappear over a short period of time, however if the symptoms last longer than a few weeks, the person may be suffering from a Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
